(Haji, Dao, Mzee) – Adriano set up Rising Sun Dive Centre in 1997 as SSI Zanzibar, and with Mirko Tommasi ran the centre for five years. Adriano is originally from Italy but with a German mother, meaning that he developed amazing language abilities from an early age. Adriano is still the Owner of Rising Sun Dive Centre and can be found occasionally darkening its doors today.

(Abunuwasi, Mzee Mafuta) – Paul has been with Adriano since 2002 and has taken over the day to day operations. Paul has been diving since 1990 and after completing his degree in the UK moved out to Tanzania to work for Rising Sun Dive Centre. Paul converted the centre to PADI in 2002 and to becoming a National Geographic centre in 2005. With the new centre in the North Paul and Adriano became business partners.

Louis Schoon

|
(Mbrambo) – Louis joined us in July 2009 and is a highly trained instructor. From South Africa originally he has brought his skills as an electrician with him to assist as well. Louis is fluent in English and Afrikaans and loves teaching all levels of diver. His new passion is photography and this is a skill that he can teach you during your stay.

(Mandili, Mbagu) – Riki joined Rising Sun in 1999 as a helper around the centre. He has since become Paul’s right hand and is always around the dive centre to help out. Riki has developed his talents and can now service equipment, tanks and compressors with speaking English, Italian, a little Spanish he is a useful guy to have around.

Sarah Barrington

(Mama Mukka) – Sarah speaks fluent, English, German, Italian, and French and is a fantastic asset to the centre. She is a experienced Dive Master who is Irish by birth but grew up in Italy and Germany. She first developed her passion for diving in Utila, Honduras and loves the macro life available in Zanzibar.

(Mzee wabusara) – Cimbani was the first employee of Rising Sun Dive Centre back in 1997 and has been with us ever since. He is now the head skipper and a very respected member of the community. And just remember if you ever want something from Cimbani give him some ice Cream, then it is a sure bet!

Ryan Lukas

(Mbrefu)– Ryan along with Sarah, run the Northern base. Ryan is an instructor of high quality and came to Rising Sun Highly recommended by his old base in Utila, Honduras. Ryan is originally from Maine in the US and grew up by the sea, where he soon developed his love for it. His first dives were in Belize and since then he has never looked back.

The dive centre cat. She was found by Adriano in January 2003 and is now we think the fattest cat on the island. Watch out because she does attack!!!! Now she does not live in the dive centre but with Paul however she is still very much part of our team.
